About Me
My Philosophy

Birth is a normal, natural event in a woman’s life and women have the right to choose how and where they birth. I believe for most healthy women the safest place to birth is in their own home with a qualified midwife. I want families to have enough accurate and true information to make the best choices for themselves and their babies. My goal as a midwife is to ensure women know all their choices, honor their choices and guide their pregnancy and birth with kindness, knowledge, experience and respect.

"I am a physician and have delivered babies in hospitals. I am very aware of the risks and benefits of hospital and home births. When I had my two children, I did researching and soul searching about the best birthing locations for myself and my babies. I knew home births would be the better way for us.
Having the care of a midwife during pregnancy is like having a caring knowledgeable wise woman helping you. I felt supported, informed ( and trust me, I put Kathryn to the test.) and safe. Being able to stay in my home without IV fluids, bright lights, strangers and monitors, without being stuck on my back trying to push, was key to having a natural delivery. I even got to reach down and catch them as they came out in the water.
After the babies were born, I was in my own bed breast feeding them. My loved ones were all around me. I could say more, but I would just say, consider all your options and do what is right for you."

I have been attending home births since 2002 and received my CPM (Certified Professional Midwife) and Colorado State License and Registration in 2009. I have helped hundreds of families have their babies at home and I love my job!

In 1988 I moved to Colorado from Oregon to attend The University of Northern Colorado and I completed my Bachelor's Degree in 1994.  I have been married to my husband, Mark, since 1990 and we have 3 great kids - all born at home.
